What You Will Do
The Associate Laboratory Directorate for Weapons Production Maintenance Division (ALDWP-MNTC) is seeking an outstanding, executive-level administrative partner to join the leadership team. ALDWP produces plutonium pits, detonators, and non-nuclear components, along with the supporting technical basis to ensure safe and reliable products and operations. The directorate's programs support multiple aspects of the national security mission, including plutonium processing and disposition, manufacturing for NASA deep space missions, surveillance, materials management, and waste operations.
Reporting to the Maintenance Division Leader the Staff Operations Manager (SOM) will serve as a key advisor and leader in executing effective strategic and tactical efforts of ALDWP-MNTC business and operational functions by providing leadership and support while working in a collaborative team environment. The SOM will work with the Division's Leadership team on business, operational, and programmatic activities including leading and coordinating logistics for large reviews; facilitating the development and implementation of Division level strategic and tactical plans and initiatives related to staffing plans, succession planning, and funding requests; leading the development and implementation of administrative procedures and processes for the Division; managing professional and support staff within the Division office; leading and coordinating efforts that enable the effectiveness of administrative support personnel across the Division; facilitating the coordination, planning, oversight, and conduct of directorate-wide activities in programmatic execution, business operations, and division implementation of institutional administrative requirements; conduct research, analysis, and coordinating implementation of systems and process improvement to ensure consistency, efficiency, and compliance across the Division. The SOM will be required to interface with all levels of Laboratory staff and management, and assume specific delegated authority, as needed, to represent management as a liaison in responding to internal and external institutional requests, as well as be proactive and prepared to effectively respond to a variety of administrative matters.

What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
Operational Experience
Expert-level knowledge/experience in, and consultative experience with, at least four of the following areas: human resources; financial management; policy implementation; administrative systems development; operational and programmatic activities related to safety, security, environmental compliance, quality, and performance assurance; strategic and tactical planning; and space planning.
Laboratory Structure
Advanced knowledge of the Laboratory's organizational structure, policies, procedures, requirements and various business systems. Expert-level knowledge of Laboratory business, operational, and programmatic missions, goals, and commitments.
Collaboration
Proven leadership skills and a record of accomplishment of successfully building collaborations and facilitating teamwork across organizational lines, including networking with key contacts outside of area of professional expertise.
Project/Program Management
A record of demonstrated success in conducting research, evaluating alternatives, and determining solutions on issues affecting business, operational, and or programmatic oversight. Demonstrated success in developing and supporting process improvement and innovative response to high level and complex organizational needs. Demonstrate a thorough understanding of project management demonstrated through implementation of a project in one or more of the specific LANL business disciplines (i.e. procurement, informational technology, materials management and warehousing, finance etc.).
Personal Leadership
Expert-level organizational skills and a proven ability to independently establish priorities while working effectively under pressure, with frequent interruptions, as well as managing projects and executing complex operational and business assignments.
Leadership
Experience supervising and guiding the professional development of administrative personnel; and demonstrated success-leading teams.
Communication
Demonstrated excellent communication and interpersonal skills with all levels of management and personnel, including negotiating, influencing, conflict resolution, consensus building, oral presentation, and written communications. Demonstrated ability to create preliminary drafts of Directorate positions, presentations, and procedures when provided input from a variety of sources.
Education/Experience: Position requires a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution and 5 years related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.

Clearance: Active Q Clearance
Continuous Improvement: Experience successfully implementing continuous improvement, process improvement, and strategic planning initiatives
Weapons Program Knowledge : Knowledge of the Weapons Program to include major programs and facilities.
Work Location: The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.
Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 year.

Additional Details
Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2. Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance. and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.
*Eligibility requirements : To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.
New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.
Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.
