POSITION STANDARDS

High school graduate or equivalent.

Data entry and computer skills.

This could be an entry level position; however, some medical clerical experience in a hospital or diagnostic imaging center is preferred.

Strong organizational and customer service skills.

Medical terminology would be an asset.

PART TWO:FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITY

Position Objective

The CSR, using excellent customer service skills, provides clerical support to meet and greet patients, answer phones, schedule and confirm appointments, verify insurance and verify accuracy of protocols and requisitions.

Performance Expectation

Schedules, receives and directs patients and visitors to the appropriate areas or department/facility personnel.

Verifies insurances; obtains benefit description and pre-certification information.

Reviews accuracy of requisitions and completeness of protocols – follows up on problems as needed.

Screens and refers incoming phone calls and department visitors to ensure that accurate and timely departmental communication is facilitated and that the department is presented in a positive manner. Completes communication with referral sources.

Ensures patients are aware of preparation requirements when scheduling exams and making reminder phone calls.

Processes requests for patient imaging requests.

Takes initiative to identify department based problems, and resolves them as appropriate. Performs front-line problem solving in a positive manner with department support as appropriate.

Treats all patients with dignity, respect and a caring attitude.

Prioritizes multiple tasks in an efficient, controlled and organized manner.

Performs other duties as assigned.
