Information technology auditors do not need to have strong technical expertise in specific systems or technologies, but they do need to be analytical, inquisitive, and interested in the role of technology in government policy and operations. Information technology auditors examine various aspects of state computer systems and technologies to identify areas of potential risk that could negatively impact operations. Information technology audit assignments address diverse topics ranging from system controls, data integrity, information security, project management, and IT governance. These assignments offer staff continuing variety, challenging and meaningful work, and opportunities for professional growth and advancement. Information technology auditors perform analysis of operations and data, interpret and apply various industry standards, and make recommendations to state agencies to improve operations. Auditors document their analysis and findings in audit workpapers, compose summaries and conclusions for their work, write reports, and present results to agency personnel and legislative committees. Associate Information Technology Auditor: 0-3 years of relevant experience; starting minimum salary$69,918 Senior Information Technology Auditor:2-5 years of relevant experience; starting minimum salary $81,310 To be considered for entry as Senior, the applicant MUST have a minimum of 2 years direct work experience as a information security analyst, information systems/technology auditor, or demonstrably equivalent position. Education or related (but not direct) work experience WILL NOT be substituted for the direct auditing work experience for Senior-level consideration.
