Summary: The Construction Instructor will be responsible for teaching YouthBuild Construction courses, preparing program participants for worksite experience and successful job placement. The applicant must be mission driven and experienced in the construction industry.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following and other duties may be assigned:
Prepares Construction course materials and assignments.
Instructs Construction courses in accordance with national standards.
Maintains accurate documentation of program participant performance.
Evaluates the work of each program participant providing assistance and additional instruction as needed.
Promotes a positive safety environment.
Interacts positively with team members and program participants
Education and/or Experience and Professional Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent required 5+ year of experience in construction management
Clean Background Check and Drug/Alcohol Test
Valid Missouri Drivers License
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This is not a supervisory position.

Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, evaluations, etc. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from staff and clients.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as interest/penalties, proportions/percentages, household bills, budgets, etc.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to solve problems for clients with limited knowledge of their total situation.
Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Database software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software as well as the Community Action IA software.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Must have a drivers license valid in the State of Missouri and transportation as necessary.
Other Skills and Abilities: Must have the ability to empathize with and understand the needs of DAEOC clientele. Must have knowledge of living and working conditions in the six-county area of Southeast Missouri as they relate to DAEOC clients. Must have the ability to research and analyze information for successful grant writing.
Other Qualifications: Must be able to work a flexible schedule which will include evenings. Must be able to travel the six-county area occasionally and go out-of-area on a periodic basis.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
