Job Title: Construction Materials TechnicianJob Description

An exciting opportunity awaits an entry-level Construction Materials Technician to test concrete for slump, density, and moisture in our laboratory. The role offers in-house training and the chance to work alongside experienced employees.

Responsibilities

Communicate effectively with project managers, engineering technicians, client representatives, and contractor representatives regarding construction site requirements and testing, observation, and inspection results.

Transport material samples to the laboratory for further testing and analysis, ensuring all samples are accompanied by identifying documentation.

Tabulate, prepare, and submit data and observations in both written and digital reports for daily transmittal to the Project Manager.

Maintain and clean equipment, vehicles, and work areas to ensure operational efficiency and safety.

Assist with scheduling and dispatching Technicians to project sites as needed.

Adhere to strict safety standards at all times.

Provide clear documentation of findings and results.

Engage in progressively increased training and responsibility in work assignments.

Essential Skills

Strong communication skills.

Proficiency in computer skills, including logging daily field reports and sending emails.

Knowledge of concrete testing, materials testing, and concrete inspection.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

ACI certification is a plus.

Previous experience in construction materials testing is advantageous.

Bachelor's or Associate's degree in civil engineering, geology, geoscience, or a related field.

Work Environment

Work hours vary from Monday to Sunday, with shifts ranging from 8 to 12 hours per day. During the summer, the role may require longer working hours than in the winter. Due to the nature of the industry, there is no guaranteed 40-hour workweek, although availability after 40 hours is expected. The position offers hands-on training for entry-level civil, geotech, and environmental roles, and includes paid certifications and extra training opportunities. The company is employee-owned and offers profit-sharing benefits.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $23.00/hr.
