SUMMARY: The Administrative Assistant for the Emergency Department (ED) provides essential administrative and clerical support to ensure the efficient and effective operation of the ED. This role facilitates communication between clinical staff, patients, and external parties while maintaining accurate records and assisting with departmental coordination in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment. Key Responsibilities: Greet and assist patients, families, and visitors in the Emergency Department Answer and triage phone calls; relay messages to ED staff promptly Assist with tracking patient flow, bed assignments, and transfers Coordinate communication between ED staff, lab, imaging, and other hospital departments Monitor and order supplies for the ED; ensure administrative resources are available Prepare and distribute departmental reports, memos, and correspondence Assist with onboarding paperwork and training schedules for new ED staff as needed Support compliance with hospital policies, HIPAA regulations, and patient privacy standards Provide general administrative support including filing, scanning, copying, and data entry Assist with the transport of specimens to the laboratory. Assist in the transport of patients. EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: High school diploma or equivalent preferred. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Minimum 1-2 years of clerical or administrative experience in a healthcare or emergency setting preferred. LICENSURE / CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Current CNA preferred.
