The University at Albany, State University of New York, seeks a personable, culturally aware, and student-focused Director to lead the Office of General Studies and Summer Sessions. The Office of General Studies and Summer Sessions delivers the summer and winter session academic programming for the University and admits and registers non-degree students for undergraduate credit classes.
The Director of General Studies & Summer Sessions will lead the office's day-to-day operations, including supervising staff, fiscal operations, and managing all aspects of general studies and summer/winter sessions. They will support the University's strategic enrollment goals through admitting and registering undergraduate non-degree students and marketing and promoting summer/winter sessions and online programs.
Primary Responsibilities:
Coordinating General Studies:
Manage the General Studies admission and registration function for non-degree undergraduate students, visiting students from colleges and high schools, and students taking contract courses via arrangements with outside agencies at the undergraduate and graduate levels of the curriculum.
Develop and enforce admission standards to assure compliance with campus enrollment plans, policies, and procedures for advisement and registration designed to meet the needs of the casual student in conjunction with University goals and develop and enforce policies and guidelines that ensure quality and control in the delivery of programs and services while meeting University expectations for image and financial support.
Serve as chief consultant in any University computer applications, whether local or web-based, that pertain to Summer Sessions, Winter Sessions, or General Studies.
Monitor all State and IFR accounts (contract course account, non-credit account, S&E account) as well as Summer Sessions and Winter Session IFR accounts; produce spending plans for each and work with the Budget Office to set a spending profile for future summer revenue.
Scheduling, staffing, and running Summer Session:
Manage the Summer Sessions program, including coordinating all phases of marketing, monitoring/controlling the scheduling of classes, processing the appointments for teaching faculty, overseeing the admission and registration of students, maintaining expenditure levels, and monitoring comparative statistical reports to ensure that revenue targets are met or exceeded, reconciling the instructional salary account, and producing final enrollment/revenue reports.

Manage the Winter Session program, including coordinating all phases of marketing, monitoring/controlling the scheduling of classes, processing the appointments for teaching faculty, overseeing the admission and registration of students, maintaining expenditure levels, and monitoring comparative statistical reports to ensure that revenue targets are met or exceeded, reconciling the instructional salary account, and producing final revenue reports.
Marketing and promotion of programs:
Manage the marketing and promotion of Online Programs, including coordinating with academic units to admit and register students, monitoring comparative statistical reports to confirm whether targets are met or exceeded, and producing final enrollment.
Lead and manage direct reports/team:
Lead and manage direct reports/team providing guidance, support, and performance feedback to assure goals, programs, activities, and personnel practices are consistent with and contribute to the University's mission.
Lead employees for maximum performance and dedication, fostering a positive and productive work environment. Complete performance management feedback and goals timely and per requirements, offering constructive feedback and developing improvement plans.

Job Requirements:
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and proven ability to learn and use new technology, including university systems.
Proficient in data-driven decision-making with a strong background in reporting and analysis.
Job Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
Master's degree from a college or University accredited by the US Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization.
Five or more years of relevant experience in financial management, budgeting, and supervision.
Experience with university systems, structures, credentials, and student services.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience supporting non-matriculated students and adult learners.
