This position performs a variety of duties which include supervising, counseling, advising, and training data practices staff in the performance of their duties as well as recommending hiring, disciplining, and commendations of assigned staff. This is a full-time, exempt position that will work onsite at the Anoka County Sheriff's Office. Work Location This position will work at the Anoka County Sheriff's Office, 13301 Hanson Blvd NW, Andover, MN 55304. Expected work hours are Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. Schedule may vary based on business needs and at supervisor discretion. Job Duties and Responsibilities These examples are not all inclusive and are intended to be illustrative of primary responsibilities of an Anoka County Supervisor, Administrative Services. Responsible for supervising, counseling, advising and training data practices staff in the performance of their duties as well as recommending hiring, disciplining and commendations of assigned staff. Reviews daily, weekly, monthly activities of staff to analyze performance of the various job duties and ensures workload consistency. Creates staff schedules, approves time off and leave requests, schedules staff in anticipation of required overtime due to workload requirements, staff vacations, training and other department needs. Develops and maintains a thorough knowledge of Sheriff's Office operating policies, procedures, and practices. Ensures that the Sheriff's Office data practices are in compliance with the law, including properly prioritizing data requests ensuring compliance with data practice law and timetables. Coordinates assessment and evaluation of workflow and work quality issues with other staff as it pertains to data practices. Represents the Sheriff's Office at Anoka County data practices meetings. Performs miscellaneous office support coordination functions such as office supplies coordination and maintenance; and other duties as assigned. Performs Data Practices work for the Sheriff's Office, including, but not limited to: Receive Sheriff's Office information requests via various sources such as, Sheriff's Office data practices management system, email account, telephone, attorneys, private citizens, media, inmates, courts/court orders, etc. Process, compile, and prepare materials in response to various data requests relating to criminal investigations, calls for service, Sheriff's Office operations, as well as other activities undertaken by the Sheriff's Office. Access requested information in hard copy form as well as by searching and collecting information from varied computer systems that store Sheriff's Office data. Determine the proper release of information by following criteria as outlined in the data practice law. Redact information in both hard copy and digital formats as required for the proper use and disclosure of protected data. Serve as data practices expert while working closely with ACSO Administration and the County Attorney's Office to determine appropriate release of information or justifications as to non-disclosure of requested information. Partner with Anoka County Information Technology staff to locate and secure digital data related to data requests. Prepare invoices and collect fees associated with data requests. Qualifications and Requirements: Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Needed Requires a bachelor's degree and at least 3 years of job-related experience In lieu of the required education, an equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis Successfully pass an extensive criminal background investigation Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Needed Prior work experience in Minnesota Data Practices Working knowledge of Minnesota's Data Practices Laws or similar federal or other state's laws No tattoos, scars or brands that qualify as "Unauthorized Tattoos" under the Sheriff's Office Policy 1044.3 are allowed under any circumstances by any member of the Anoka County Sheriff's Office. Tattoos on the head, face, neck, or hands are prohibited. Exceptions may be made on a case-by-case basis. (Complete policy available upon request). Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus, such as to work on computers. Ability to see colors, shades, and brightness. Hearing abilities required for general and phone communication, signals, and machine sounds. Assignments are sedentary, occasionally alternating between sitting, standing, walking, crouching, and kneeling as required to perform job responsibilities.
