ASSISTANT GENERAL COUNSEL - LITIGATION & INVESTIGATIONS
Los Angeles, California (on-site)
Job Overview: The Office of the General Counsel of Children's Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) is seeking a sharp, self-motivated attorney with 10+ years of litigation and investigation experience to internal investigations across legal areas employment, regulatory, workers' compensation, and general civil litigation. The role includes interfacing with internal and external investigatory resources, including supervising outside counsel (determining strategy and managing cost) and addressing related prelitigation or litigation demands. The role also requires working with internal stakeholders to identify and remediate vulnerabilities. Additionally, this position provides advise and counsel to stakeholders to minimize organizational legal risk and ensure compliance with laws. Excellent attention to detail and the ability to take quick, thoughtful action in a fast-paced environment is required. This role reports directly to the General Counsel.
Ideal candidates will possess or demonstrate the following:
Track record of partnering effectively with cross-functional teams and providing proactive, solution-oriented advice to stakeholders on a number of legal and regulatory issues.
Experience with regulatory bodies (e.g., OCR, DOL, OSHA) and government investigation is required.
Experience either handling or managing employment investigations is preferred is .
Experience with arbitrations and all stages of litigation, including trial.
Ability to proactively approach all aspects of internal and external investigations from planning through internal reporting and remediation efforts,.
Experience providing labor and employment counsel advice to stakeholders is a plus. Demonstrated ability to communicate legal risks and recommendations to senior leaders.
Resourcefulness, strong intellectual curiosity, and ability to quickly learn complex systems and their legal framework
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with proven experience in relationship building and partnering
Experience working with healthcare entities is a plus.
Minimum Qualifications/Work Experience: 10+ years of investigations and litigation experience including employment litigation working at a law firm, the government, and/or in-house setting, or in healthcare setting. Healthcare or government experience is strongly preferred.
Education/Licensure/Certification: Juris Doctorate degree.
Pay Scale Information
USD $169,936.00 - $305,760.00

Final determination of a successful candidate's starting pay will vary based on a number of factors, including, but not limited to education and experience within the job or the industry. The pay scale listed for this position is generally for candidates that meet the specified qualifications and requirements listed on this specific job description. Additional pay may be determined for those candidates that exceed these specified qualifications and requirements.
