Position Summary...
Drives the execution of multiple business plans and projects by identifying customer and operational needs; developing and communicating business plans and priorities; removing barriers and obstacles that impact performance; providing resources; identifying performance standards; measuring progress and adjusting performance accordingly; developing contingency plans; and demonstrating adaptability and supporting continuous learning. What you'll do...
This role involves overseeing and arranging the overall strategy of the delivery program to stores, using various transportation methods such as ocean carriers, air freight, and barges. The Senior Manager will also be responsible for managing the hub and spoke operations and being the single point of contact for store partners, merchant partners, and the distribution center on the island. This is a role based in Waipahu, HI, a full relocation package is available.
Manages daily operations for third-party logistics by establishing professional working relationships with carriers consolidators and suppliers challenging and influencing carriers consolidators and suppliers to support market initiatives conducting bid processes negotiating with external customers providing feedback to carrier relations and Jones Act teams in contract negotiations managing and mitigating carrier detention accessorial charges analyzing and resolving issues to meet capacity utilization and service standards and overseeing the local freight consolidation program serving the stores and local vendors.
Manages profit and loss PL of ocean container and consolidator operation in support of Walmart stores and Sams Club by auditing reporting and educating internal and external customers on inefficiencies monitoring and approving carrier invoices to ensure proper payment and collaborating with cross functional teams for example Merchandising Replenishment to optimize processes and reduce transportation cost.
Manages tactical and strategic plans to meet volume demands by managing carriers to achieve planned trailer pool standards controlling the distribution of used and discarded assets for example pallets cardboard fixtures collaborating with consolidators and carriers to understand key business needs understanding inbound volume flow for example day of week to meet daily business needs communicating changes to consolidators and carriers adjusting Custom Delivery program by commodity and store as needed and ensuring continual review of inbound and outbound transportation to meet the needs of the supply chain business.
Develops value added processes to promote growth in offshore markets for example store operations merchandising replenishment by monitoring market specific analysis implementing and tracking value based metrics educating merchants and stores on freight factor analysis impacts for example item cube based on shipping cost ensuring internal/external collaboration on shipping solutions and processes for example Alaska bush area Hawaii neighbor island stores driving consistent processes and systems across all markets and influencing cross functional leadership to integrate strategic goals into business processes
Drives strategic development of Offshore Supply Chain by communicating and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to learn functional areas of opportunity providing associate training and development opportunities utilizing business expertise and network analysis to determine optimum business solutions and evaluating and communicating progress to cross functional teams and senior leadership to ensure goals are met.
Manages carrier detention claims processes by ensuring the mitigation and validation of carrier detention claims collaborating with vendors and merchants to improve carrier utilization at supplier Walmart Stores Sams Clubs and Walmartcom facilities and overseeing development of and reviewing reports for Detention Resolution Center DRC regarding management of cost avoidance and detention expenditures.
Preferred Qualifications
4+ years of experience in transportation or supply chain management.
