Job Summary
The Director of Operations is responsible for overseeing the Franktown, CO, business unit in the construction of electric power distribution infrastructure, overhead and underground, in order to meet customer expectations and designated timelines. This position supports the Operations team and works with other team members, senior leadership, and personnel from all departments.
Annual salary: $170,000 - $190,000 (DOE)
Responsibilities
Lead and direct business unit operations staff in the effective and safe execution of projects.
Manage team to meet budgets and schedules and ensure customer satisfaction.
Generate and control revenues and costs in order to deliver a profit to MasTec, with ultimate P&L responsibility for the business unit.
Develop and prepare short-term and long-range development plans, forecasting initiatives, P&L statistics, and budgets based on corporate goals and objectives.
Be a key source and proponent of Safety and promote Safety Leadership.
Ensure that a rigorous safety and operational excellence process is implemented and used across the region with an ethos of develop, train/test, and implement for the tasks within each team members scope of work.
Make staffing decisions, train new employees, and develop employee performance.
Prepare and present detailed construction cost estimates and documentation.
Perform other duties as required and/or assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in construction technology, Engineering, or a related field of study. (or equivalent work history)
10 years of total relevant experience, including previous supervisory experience.
Experience managing divisional or department budget.
Experience managing projects to completion.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong interpersonal skills for interacting with team members and upper management.
Ability to read work prints.
Preferred
10 or more years managing operations related to underground cable/conduit placement and/or aerial cable placement.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
This job operates in a field environment. This role routinely requires extended periods of bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting, lifting in awkward positions, standing, and twisting. Also, working in inclement weather conditions, such as extreme heat, extreme cold, rain, ice, snow, and wind.
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. This position is physically active, with lifting required. Must be able to bend and lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Clarity of vision at 20 feet or more or 20 inches or less, with the ability to judge distance and space relationships. Precise hand-eye coordination. Ability to identify and distinguish colors.
