Located at the intersection of Highways 290 and 77, the City of Giddings, Texas is thriving with growth while
maintaining a hometown feel. With a population just over 5,000, and 5.1 square miles inside the city limits, residents
pride themselves on strong family values, and commitiment to community. The close proximity to most major
metropolitan areas in Texas allows citizens to enjoy small town life without compromising access to the big city.
The City of Giddings operates under a Home Rule Charter and a Council/Manager form of government. The 6
member council consists of Mayor Joel Lopez, Mayor Pro-Tem Alan Casey, and Councilmembers Linda Pruitt, Jacob
Janda, Mark Muniz, and Kevin Rinn. The City owns its own utilities including water, wastewater, and electric, plus a
municipal golf course, a library and cultural center, and an animal shelter. With 84 full and part time employees, and
a $19 million budget, The City of Giddings is full of potential.
The City Manager oversees all 15 departments at the direction of City Council. With the amount of growth Giddings
is expecting in the near future, the ideal candidate would be experienced in leading a City through the demanding
times ahead while helping to maintain and promote the culture of a family like atmosphere amongst City employees.
Many projects are underway that will need to be followed through, while simultaneously looking for opportunities to
better the City.
