Description

We are looking for a dedicated Medical Billing Specialist to join a dynamic, growing team in San Juan Capistrano, California. In this role, you will handle key aspects of medical claims processing, insurance follow-ups, and accounts receivable management to ensure efficient revenue cycle operations. This is a Contract-to-Permanent position, offering the opportunity to grow within a dynamic and collaborative healthcare environment.

Responsibilities:

Prepare and submit accurate healthcare claims to insurance providers in a timely manner.

Investigate and resolve issues with outstanding behavioral health claims across multiple payers.

Analyze claim denials and rejections, submitting appeals with appropriate documentation and coding references.

Maintain detailed records of claim statuses, payer communications, and resolution efforts within billing systems.

Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to address billing discrepancies and ensure accuracy.

Review aging reports to identify overdue accounts and determine appropriate follow-up actions.

Monitor patterns in claim denials and recommend strategies for improving processes.

Stay informed about updates in medical billing regulations, behavioral health practices, and industry standards.

Assist with special projects and additional tasks as assigned by management.

Requirements - High school diploma or equivalent is required.

At least 1 year of experience in medical billing, preferably in behavioral health.

Familiarity with CPT codes, ICD-10, and general medical billing practices.

Strong organizational and analytical skills with excellent attention to detail.

Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) systems and medical billing software.

Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

Knowledge of denial management processes and appeals.
