Job Description

The Medical Laboratory Technologist performs essential medical laboratory testing on patient samples. This role involves executing routine and complex technical procedures and functions within the laboratory information system promptly and accurately. Responsibilities include phlebotomy, specimen collection, processing, reporting, and storage. Additionally, the technologist will handle machine calibration and troubleshooting, ensure proper documentation, and adhere to relevant regulations. Occasionally, the technologist will communicate with parents to deliver test results.

Responsibilities

Conduct medical laboratory testing on patient samples.

Execute routine and complex laboratory procedures efficiently.

Perform phlebotomy, specimen collection, and processing.

Calibrate and troubleshoot laboratory equipment.

Document laboratory activities and comply with regulations.

Communicate test results to parents when necessary.

Essential Skills

Minimum of 1 year of experience in a laboratory setting.

Proficiency in chemistry and biology.

Experience with medical laboratory practices.

Strong communication and customer service skills.

Comfortable performing phlebotomy on children.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Associate's degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or Bachelor's degree in Medical Lab Science.

1 year of lab experience required for those with a regular science degree.

Bench laboratory experience is an advantage.

Interest in obtaining ASCP certification.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.86 - $32.86/hr.
