Position Summary:
The Communication Specialist supports the development and delivery of clear, engaging, and consistent communications across the school district while filling in a void in the high school office as an administrative assistant.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in drafting and editing content for social media posts, flyers, and community communications.
Help manage the district's social media channels by creating and scheduling posts and monitoring engagement.

Update and maintain the content of the website, highlighting student and classroom events that deserve celebration.

Take photos and/or video to support storytelling and community engagement.
Monitor local media and assist in compiling daily news reports related to the district.
Help prepare communication materials for school building and district events.
Assist with internal communications, including staff newsletters and employee announcements, and student achievements.
Provide general administrative support and understand our student information system.

Track daily attendance and communicate the attendance status to the building administration.

Answer phone calls and direct them to the appropriate department.
Other Duties assigned by Admin.
Qualifications:
Education:
High School Graduate
Experience:
Experience in communications, media, or public relations is preferred but not required.
Skills and Abilities:
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Familiarity with social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter/X, Instagram, etc.).
Basic understanding of graphic design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Spark) is a plus.
Attention to detail and an eagerness to learn.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Job Details:
Position with typical school weekday office hours. August through May position. 196 Day contract
Work is performed in an office setting, with visits to school sites as needed.
