We currently have a career opening for a Strategic Account Manager Oncology.
Location:
Remote with 50% nationwide travel
Travel:
2 weeks per month; primarily West Coast based but will be nationwide.
Responsibilities
The Strategic Account Manager (SAM) for Community-Based Oncology is responsible for managing key oncology practice accounts, focusing on Cardinal Health's specialty pharmaceutical distribution services. This role will drive strategic growth, optimize account performance, and strengthen customer relationships by aligning Cardinal Health solutions with the evolving needs of community oncology practices.
Account Relationship Management
Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned oncology practice accounts.
Develop and maintain trusted relationships with physicians, administrators, pharmacists, and clinical leadership.
Strategic Planning & Execution
Create and execute tailored account plans that support practice goals and align with Cardinal Health's oncology strategies.
Identify and pursue growth opportunities across distribution services, inventory solutions, and biosimilar offerings.
Customer Success & Operational Support
Partner with practices to improve pharmaceutical procurement, inventory management, and patient access.
Educate customers on Cardinal Health platforms and tools that drive efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work with internal teams including Sales, Operations, GPO Services, Clinical Solutions, and Customer Service to deliver seamless support.
Coordinate with Navista and other Cardinal Health technology or value-based care programs to bring holistic solutions to practices.
GPO & Contract Optimization
Ensure account alignment with Group Purchasing Organization (GPO) contracts and monitor compliance and savings opportunities.
Assist with contract implementation, renewals, and adherence tracking.
Performance Monitoring & Reporting
Analyze account metrics and trends to identify risks, opportunities, and performance gaps.
Deliver regular business reviews to customers and internal stakeholders, highlighting value delivered and progress to plan.
Market & Industry Insight
Stay current on oncology market trends, value-based care models, site-of-care shifts, and regulatory developments.
Use insights to position Cardinal Health as a strategic partner in community oncology.
Customer Advocacy & Issue Resolution
Proactively address service issues and ensure rapid resolution to protect customer satisfaction.
Serve as a strong advocate for the customer within the organization.
What Account Management contributes to Cardinal Health
Customer Service is responsible for establishing, maintaining and enhancing customer business through contract administration, customer orders, and problem resolution.
Account Management is responsible for cultivating and maintaining on-going customer relationships with an assigned set of customers. Provides new and existing customers with the best possible service and recommendations in relation to billing inquiries, service requests, improvements to internal and external processes, and other areas of opportunity. Provides product service information to customers and identifies upselling opportunities to maintain and increase income streams from customer relationships.
Qualifications
Prior experience with Specialty Pharmaceutical Distribution.
GPO and MSO knowledge
Understanding of oncology landscape and their workings with GPOs and distribution agreements.
Prior experience in a customer facing role.
Experience executing business presentations and communicating in front of business leaders.
Anticipated salary range: $ 98,900 - 149,500 (includes targeted bonus pay)
