As the Electrical Service Technician you will be responsible for assembling electrical equipment, reading, and interpreting instructions, assembling parts and tools, and fitting electronic components together. This role does require 25% travel within USA and to CAN for servicing and installation. Relocation assistance may be available. Many opportunities for advancement!
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Installs electrical equipment ensure all electrical work complies with national, state, and local electrical codes and regulations;
Diagnosing and resolving problems in electrical circuits, systems, and equipment;
Test electrical circuits, equipment using appropriate tools and testing instruments;
Keeping accurate records of all work performed, including updates to blueprints or electrical schematics to reflect modifications made during installation or repairs;
May perform work of lower-level electricians;
Read and decipher schematics, blueprints, drawings, and assembly instructions;
Position or align components and parts, either manually or with hoists;
Use hand tools, power tools, or machines to assemble parts;
Conduct quality control checks;
Comply with and assist with the development of safety protocols;
Prepare work to be accomplished by studying part lists and gathering parts, subassemblies, tools, and materials;
Position parts and subassemblies by using templates or reading measurements;
Keep equipment operational by completing preventive maintenance requirements, following manufacturers instructions, troubleshooting malfunctions, and calling for repairs;
Providing timely response to emergency situations which may involve urgent repairs or safety hazards;
Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
Ensure compliance and regulatory adherence: Stay up-to-date with electrical codes, regulations, and industry standards related to fire alarm systems. Ensure all installations and repairs comply with relevant codes and regulations, maintaining accurate documentation and records;
Ensure safety and quality standards: Promote and enforce adherence to safety protocols, electrical codes, and industry standards; Knowledge of secondary electrical systems including planning additions or modifications on secondary circuits;
Ability to use appropriate tools and diagnostic equipment to repair, install, replace, and test 1000 volt and below electrical circuits, equipment and appliances;
Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures;
Ability to isolate defects in wiring, switches, motors, and other electrical equipment;
Proficiency in reading blueprints, technical manuals, and specifications;
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills;
Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities;
Attention to detail and strong organizational skills;
Valid driver's license and clean driving record
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: 1-2 years of experience as an electrical technician, inclusive of co-op and apprenticeship experience;
Post-secondary education in electromechanical, electrical technology/technician, or related field.;
Extensive experience in the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electrical systems;
In-depth knowledge of electrical codes, regulations, and industry standards;
Splicing and connecting wire fixtures and components to form circuits;
Testing and troubleshooting circuits to ensure current continuity and voltage, and that systems operate safely; Pulling wire through conduits and through holes in walls and floors;
Communicating effectively as a member of a team with all peers including electricians, apprentices, supervisors and other skilled trades;
Maintain, repair and test switch gears, transformers, regulators, motors, generators and control systems;
Valid license and access to a vehicle
