Description

We are looking for an experienced Staff Accountant to join a small, collaborative team in Livingston, New Jersey. This is a Contract to permanent position offering an opportunity to contribute to a variety of accounting functions in a detail-oriented yet close-knit office environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting practices and be proficient in QuickBooks and Excel.

Responsibilities:

Prepare and post journal entries to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.

Maintain and reconcile the general ledger to support month-end and year-end closing processes.

Manage accounts receivable and accounts payable functions, including invoicing and payment processing.

Generate and analyze financial statements, ensuring compliance with company guidelines and standards.

Perform bank and account reconciliations to maintain accurate records.

Review and reconcile balance sheets to identify and resolve discrepancies.

Utilize QuickBooks for daily accounting tasks and reporting.

Create and work with Excel spreadsheets, including using pivot tables and VLOOKUP functions.

Collaborate with office staff to ensure smooth daily operations and adherence to accounting best practices.

Requirements - Minimum of 15 years of accounting experience, preferably within a small office environment.

Proficiency in QuickBooks with hands-on experience managing accounting tasks.

Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and VLOOKUP functions.

Strong understanding of journal entries, general ledger maintenance, and balance sheet reconciliations.

Experience with accounts receivable and accounts payable processes.

Ability to prepare and interpret financial statements with precision.

Skilled in performing bank and account reconciliations.

Excellent organizational and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a small team.
