What You Will Do:
Pratt & Whitney's OpX Core Manufacturing Engineering Organization is seeking a highly motivated individual to join us as a Process Manufacturing Engineering Manager and Technical Lead.
We are looking for a technically talented individual with a true desire to work in a dynamic operations environment. This position can include up to 30% travel. As part of OpX Core ME, you will provide Manufacturing Engineering technical support to PW Module Centers and suppliers, recommend and drive functional strategies, and create operational plans that directly impact results as we continue to increase production on our commercial and military engine programs.
Specifically, within our Advanced Manufacturing Processes Laboratory, we serve as an off-production-floor development laboratory space where we drive new technologies and manufacturing processes to accelerate learning and solutions. The Advanced Manufacturing Process Lab includes grinding, hollow spindle EDM, 6-axis ram EDM, 5-axis milling, contact and non-contact inspection, and LASER drilling and cleaning. The role involves project management, operation planning, programming, and tooling & development process delivery. This position will be located in E. Hartford, CT as an on-site role. This is both a lab manager and process specialist role, where grind expertise is highly valued.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop processes for grinding, EDM, deburring, and other manufacturing techniques on high-temperature turbine airfoil components and other machined engine parts.
Coordinate and collaborate on projects with the Additive Manufacturing Labs.
Create work instructions utilizing Teamcenter and MES 2.0.
Implement new capital equipment from specification and ordering through delivery, installation, and transition to production.
Manage projects and schedules for all work going through the lab.
Work from data such as solid models, part, and tool drawings, including part models with PMI.
Support Manufacturing Process councils including technology development.
Apply advanced knowledge of cutting tool applications and design for complex part designs and high-temperature materials.
Mentor, coach, and train process Manufacturing Engineers.
Supervise Manufacturing Engineers, including full-time, rotational, and interns.
Support Module Centers as needed.
Co-develop strategy for AMPL and long-range planning.
Act as the focal point for EH&S in the lab.
Drive technical and turnkey solutions with suppliers and vendors.
Support NPI and development parts for various Module centers.
Expand laboratory services and manage SharePoint.
Support financial forecasts and capital purchases.
Qualifications You Must Have:
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Materials, or a related technical field.
8+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering and shop operations with technical expertise in machining centers, or an Advanced Degree in a related field with a minimum of 5 years of experience.
Expertise in GD&T and blueprint reading.
Proficiency in Siemens NX - Drafting, modeling, CAM.
Machining knowledge - grinding, milling, drilling, EDM.
U.S. citizenship required.
Qualifications We Prefer:
Proficiency in Smart Sheet and Project Management.
NC Programming skills.
Knowledge of Statistical Process Control.
Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, ACE, CORE, Six Sigma, Red X, RCCA, problem-solving, and process control methodologies.
General knowledge of NC machines, spindles, axis, drives, scales (FANUC or Siemens).
Strong technical writing and communication skills.
Demonstrated People Leadership skills.

This role is:
Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance workers, as they are essential to the development of our engines.
The salary range for this role is 101,000 USD - 203,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
