Description

We are looking for a meticulous and detail-oriented Sr Accounting Professional to join our client's team in Dayton, Oregon. This long-term contract position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to the financial integrity and operational efficiency of our organization. The ideal candidate will excel in maintaining accurate accounting records, reconciling accounts, and ensuring compliance with applicable financial regulations.

Responsibilities:

Manage and maintain the general ledger for various funds, including General, Streets, Utilities, Capital Projects, and Debt Service.

Prepare and post journal entries for accruals, corrections, reclassifications, and interfund activities.

Update and oversee the chart of accounts, ensuring alignment with state guidelines and organizational reporting structures.

Perform monthly reconciliations for bank accounts, investment accounts, credit cards, interfund balances, and subsidiary ledgers for accounts payable and receivable.

Monitor and reconcile fund balances, including restricted, committed, assigned, and unassigned categories.

Ensure accurate fund accounting, including pooled cash allocations and due to/from balances.

Assist with month-end close processes to ensure timely and accurate reporting.

Support auditing activities by providing detailed financial records and documentation.

Collaborate with other departments to ensure compliance with grant accounting and fund management requirements.

Utilize ERP accounting systems to streamline processes and enhance financial reporting accuracy.

Requirements - Proven experience in accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger management.

Proficiency in accounting software systems and ERP platforms.

Strong knowledge of fund accounting principles and grant management.

Familiarity with month-end close processes and balance sheet account reconciliations.

Ability to perform detailed financial reconciliations and ensure accuracy in all transactions.

Solid understanding of auditing procedures and compliance requirements.

Excellent organizational and analytical skills to manage multiple financial tasks effectively.

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
