Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, and enthusiastic Accounting Clerk to join our finance team in San Mateo, CA. This entry-level to mid-level role is ideal for someone looking to build a career in accounting and gain hands-on experience in a supportive environment. The Accounting Clerk will play a crucial role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting various accounting functions, and ensuring the smooth operation of our finance department.

Responsibilities:

Perform daily data entry of financial transactions into the accounting system (e.g., invoices, receipts, payments).

Assist with accounts payable tasks, including verifying invoices, obtaining approvals, and preparing payments.

Support accounts receivable functions, such as preparing and sending invoices, processing customer payments, and assisting with collections.

Conduct bank and credit card reconciliations to ensure accuracy and identify discrepancies.

Maintain organized and accurate financial files, both physical and electronic.

Assist with the preparation of journal entries and general ledger postings.

Support month-end and year-end closing processes by gathering documentation and performing preliminary checks.

Process and track employee expense reports.

Assist with administrative duties for the finance department, including filing, scanning, and managing correspondence.

Communicate effectively with vendors, clients, and internal departments to resolve discrepancies and answer inquiries.

Learn and adhere to company accounting policies and procedures.

Requirements

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is a plus.

0-2 years of experience in an accounting or administrative support role (internship experience is welcome).

Basic understanding of accounting principles and bookkeeping concepts.

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., creating spreadsheets, basic formulas).

Familiarity with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, etc.) is highly preferred, but not required - we are willing to train the right candidate.

Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.

Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to work independently and as a collaborative team member.

Proactive, eager to learn, and able to adapt to new processes.
