Caterpillar is seeking a Health and Safety Senior Corporate Counsel to join its Legal Team in Peoria, IL . The attorney will be responsible for providing legal advice and support on workplace health and safety matters across the company, domestic and international. This role works directly with Caterpillar's Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) teams globally, as well as other legal professionals and reports to the Associate General Counsel - HR Law. The successful applicant will serve as a trusted advisor to the business, corporate and regulatory teams at Caterpillar. What You Will Do:
Provide legal counsel and advice to the company on workplace health and safety compliance and regulatory legal matters.
Advise Caterpillar's Director of EHS as well as other EHS professionals and business unit attorneys on health and safety matters and compliance with laws, regulations, and policies.
Provide health and safety legal support for required certifications or permits, enforcement, and transactional matters, including M&A due diligence and health and safety related reviews of real estate transactions.
Monitor new or changing laws and maintain knowledge of relevant laws and regulations.
Work with the legal procurement team and business units to draft, review and negotiate health and safety related aspects of legal agreements and supplier, dealer, and customer requests and to review communications.
Provide or support health and safety related trainings to leadership, the business or corporate teams as requested or as updates are warranted.
What You Have:
Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.
Effective Communications: Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of stakeholders, including business professionals, outside counsel and regulators; ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams within legal and business units.
Problem Solving: Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.
Managing Multiple Priorities: Ability to work independently as well as in a team; able to manage multiple projects and prioritize.
Legal Function: Significant experience working on health and safety matters and counseling (e.g. OSHA and other local workplace health and safety laws) including experience with regulatory and transactional due diligence.
Degree and Experience Requirements:
J.D. from an accredited law school with strong academic credentials
Active Bar admission in any U.S. state and ability to practice as in-house counsel in Illinois
Must have considerable law firm and/or in-house experience in workplace health and safety and with OSHA
Additional Info :
This position requires the selected candidate to work a 5-day-a-week schedule in the Peoria, IL

Summary Pay Range:
$160,200.00 - $240,240.00
