What You'll Be Doing
The Capital Markets arm of CIBC provides corporate, government and institutional clients with innovative solutions to help them raise capital, grow and invest actively throughout North America and key financial centers around the world. Our vision is to be our clients' preferred capital markets banking partner across multiple products and services.
Global Credit Financing (GCF) is a financing business focused on the origination, asset financing, and securitization activities of various debt based products for the Bank's core clients. GCF is a product vertical under the Global Markets Financing and Financial Resource Management (GMF-FRM) which manages the allocation, deployment, and optimization of financial resources such as capital and balance sheet on behalf of and across the Global Markets Division.
The successful candidate will support the origination, structuring and execution of.
US asset-backed securitization (ABS) financing activities, and will play a key role in the build-out of CIBC's US ABS franchise. The role operates in a fast-paced trading floor environment as part of a dynamic and hardworking Securitization team. The incumbent's mandate is to focus on activities that will help support the growth of the ABS financing business at CIBC. This includes: client presentations, data modeling and other transaction support activities that assist GCF in winning and executing mandates.
How You'll Succeed
Client and Transaction Origination - Prepare presentations and conduct research on clients and liaise with the MD, US ABS Financing to help source new transactions and GCF clients for CIBC. Work closely with the various Global Markets teams as well as Investment Banking, Corporate Banking and Commercial Banking on exploring opportunities, developing market views, and bringing deals to the public or private markets.
Transaction Execution - Lead deal teams that structure, execute and monitor securitization financing transactions in the US, which will entail:
Structuring and modeling the transactions - guide junior team-members in creating and conducting financial models, including reporting on modeling results and making them understandable and presentable to internal and external stakeholders;
Reviewing and commenting on legal agreements;
Completing due diligence on clients and transactions to help understand and mitigate risks;
Working with rating agencies, as required, to get the transactions rated;
Obtaining any necessary internal approvals; and
Monitoring of transaction performance post-closing
Relationship building - Interact and build relationships with other areas of the trading floor including derivatives, fixed income trading, money markets, and debt syndication. Additionally, excel at building relationships with clients, external rating agencies, and other CIBC partners including Treasury, Risk Management, Finance, Legal, Compliance, Tax.
Risk management - Evaluate collateral pools, legal agreements and transaction structures to identify risks and required mitigants.
Who You Are
You have an Undergraduate University degree or MBA/Masters in Finance, Commerce, Science, Technology, Engineering or Math.
You can demonstrate 5+ years of related securitization experience or demonstrated ability to perform the role. Strong writing and oral communication skills, incorporating the ability to explain detailed financial analysis. Knowledge of corporate finance theory, financial analysis and valuation techniques.

WORKING CONDITIONS
This role operates within a normal office environment;
Open concept trading floor environment with exposure to noise and distractions;
Ability to handle tight deadlines and heavy workload, the result of which is the requirement to work outside normal business hours;
Ability to travel for work as required to support the origination and execution of mandates with clients; and
Required to make frequent decisions in a fast paced work environment.
At CIBC, we offer a competitive total rewards package. The Director role has an expected base salary of USD$200,000 in the New York, NY market based on experience, qualifications, and location of the position. The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit's incentive compensation plan, which also may include a discretionary bonus component.
