POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direct supervision of the Chief of Policy Development & Planning within the Firearm Eligibility Bureau (FEB), this position provides oversite for the Firearm Purchase Program (FPP) within the Firearm Eligibility Bureau (FEB). The General Services Operations Manager (GSOM) is responsible for ensuring criminal history record checks for individuals seeking to purchase a firearm are conducted in accordance with Florida Statute §790.065 and ensure continuity of operations for the FPP call center. The GSOM is also responsible for the maintenance and operations of the Florida Eligibility System (FES). This incumbent also provides support to operational and planning efforts, monitoring of systems as well as performance reporting and improvement efforts. This includes effective customer relations, production services and support activities, major development projects and business management of all resources available to support the program. This position works independently and in teams to accomplish objectives established in the Agency's Strategic Plan and consults with other governmental agencies to evaluate their information needs and capabilities. This position has the authority to hire, transfer, suspend, lay off, recall, promote, discharge, assign, reward, or discipline subordinate employees or effectively recommend such action.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Specific duties may include:
Providing management, motivation, direction, and coordination of the Section by planning workloads, deadlines, objectives, and prioritization of projects;
Recommending operation policies and assists in the establishment of procedures and procedural manuals to implement policies, achieve operational objectives, or resolve operation problems;
Monitoring operation activities to meet specific, measurable service objectives to assure compliance with state and federal laws and operation goals;
Providing daily consultation and assistance to management and staff in management and operation of programs and responsibilities;
Preparing written reports, charts, letters, memoranda, procedural manuals, and other documentation in accordance with Department guidelines using appropriate and logical formats, tone, grammar, spelling, capitalization, and punctuation in time frames established with Bureau Chief/Director;
Maintaining knowledge of accepted policies, theories, techniques, and methodologies related to data collection, law enforcement, and information management through reading available materials, attending training, and other research activities on an ongoing basis, and demonstrates such knowledge in written products and verbal reports to Bureau Chief/Director;
Preparing written reports, charts, letters, memoranda, procedural manuals, and other documentation in accordance with Department guidelines, using appropriate and logical formats, tone, grammar, spelling, capitalization, and punctuation, in time frames established with supervisors;
Assisting in research and analysis of special projects or reports including recommended action and completed within established time frames; and
Developing procedural manuals concerning procedures, provides subject matter expertise, develops standards for personnel, monitors adherence to policies and procedures.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
At least two years working in a leadership or management capacity.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Knowledge of basic management principles and practices;
Knowledge of correct grammar usage;
Ability to supervise people;
Ability to organize data into logical formats for presentation in reports, documents, and other written materials;
Ability to utilize problem solving techniques;
Ability to work independently;
Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments;
Ability to organize files, records, and/or other materials;
Ability to follow written/verbal instructions; and
Ability to communicate effectively to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

BASE SALARY:
$74,000.00
NOTES:
Starting salary will be at the minimum of the class pay range, unless otherwise dictated by FDLE's pay policy. The elements of this selection process may include a work sample and/or interview. Future vacancies may be filled from this position advertisement.
