THE ROLE
The Sales Manager is responsible for identifying, soliciting, and securing business opportunities within assigned market segments to drive sales and maximize revenue for the convention center. This role requires excellent relationship-building, communication, and organizational skills, along with a deep understanding of the competitive landscape.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Identify potential clients and organizations within assigned market segments.
Maintain thorough and up-to-date client records, including contact information, business needs, and communication history, using department-approved filing procedures and sales platforms.
Proactively solicit and sell through phone calls, written correspondence, and in-person meetings.
Conduct site tours and entertain clients as appropriate to support the sales process.
Continuously seek ways to improve sales techniques, productivity, and effectiveness.
Prepare and deliver professional sales presentations to individuals and groups.
Negotiate and draft leasing contracts, clearly outlining space usage and rental terms.
Maintain a professional image and cultivate strong, positive relationships with
clients and prospects.
Assist in the development and execution of departmental sales plans and strategies; provide input on programs and policies to support department goals.
Stay informed on competitor offerings and use this knowledge to position the convention center's advantages effectively.
Ensure timely follow-up on all sales leads and client communications.
Compose professional correspondence, proposals, and lease agreements.
Participate in community outreach and represent the convention center at local industry meetings, conferences, and events as required.
Meet or exceed individual sales targets and contribute to overall team objectives.

Supervisory Responsibilities
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with all Legends & ASM policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's degree in marketing, Communications, Advertising, Business, Travel & Hospitality, or a related field preferred.
Minimum of three (3) years of sales or sales-related experience required.
Preference given to candidates with experience/education in a convention center, hospitality, or similar industry.
Bilingual (English and Spanish), preferred.
Skills and Abilities
Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to deliver presentations.
Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain client relationships.
Proven sales and negotiation expertise with a results-driven, customer-centric approach.
Capable of managing multiple projects and client accounts simultaneously with a high attention to detail.
Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and collaborate with cross-functional teams in a high-performance environment.
In-depth understanding of event logistics, venue operations, and convention center services.
Highly organized, proactive, and able to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic setting.
Committed to delivering exceptional client service and fostering client satisfaction and retention.
Willingness to travel for client meetings, and industry events as required.
Professional appearance, demeanor, and strong work ethic.
Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize competing demands.
Ability to supervise staff effectively, as needed.
Computer Skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite programs, particularly Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point.
Momentus Elite (VenueOps) or comparable event planning software a plus.
