Description

We are looking for a detail-oriented Medical Billing Specialist to join our team. In this Contract-to-Permanent role, you will play a key part in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of medical billing processes. This position requires a strong understanding of insurance claims, payment posting, and contractual agreements, along with the ability to manage accounts with precision.

Responsibilities:

Prepare and submit insurance claims or bills directly to patients in compliance with insurance guidelines.

Verify payment accuracy against contractual agreements and promptly report any discrepancies to the supervisor.

Adjust account balances to reflect insurance allowances, write-offs, or discounts in accordance with departmental policies.

Document and escalate insurance payment denials to the supervisor in a timely manner.

Reconcile account deposits and ensure they are submitted to the bank according to established procedures.

Maintain accurate records of all billing activities, including specialized terminology for third-party payers.

Stay updated on insurance billing requirements and report any inconsistencies or changes to the supervisor.

Complete assigned tasks and special projects efficiently with minimal supervision, meeting departmental deadlines.

Forward necessary documentation to payers, attorneys, or auditors as required, following organizational policies.

Requirements - Proven experience in medical billing or accounts receivable, with a strong understanding of billing functions and insurance claims.

Familiarity with appeals processes and benefit administration.

Ability to accurately interpret and apply insurance contracts and payment agreements.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail to ensure quality and timely work.

Proficiency in handling claims and ensuring compliance with payer requirements.

Excellent communication skills to document activities and report variances effectively.

Ability to adapt to evolving departmental needs and take on new billing responsibilities as required.

Competence in maintaining both digital and paper files in an organized manner.
