Some of what you'll be doing:
As a Senior Construction Manager, you will be the senior level technical expert managing one or more multi-year, large and highly complex Aviation project. You will supervise construction staff to ensure projects comply with contract documents and meet quality, safety, schedule, budget, and operational needs. You will also manage construction budgets, schedules, dispute resolution, and closeout on projects that impact other agencies and the surrounding community. Currently, there are three positions opened: in the Baggage Optimization, Terminal Improvements and C Concourse Expansion Programs.
You will plan, schedule, assign, direct, and monitor teams to ensure the efficient and coordinated completion of projects. You will also supervise staff and direct consultants, providing mentorship, coaching and training on how to successfully deliver projects.
You will actively participate or lead in the discussion, negotiation and resolution of major change orders or construction claims that have significant impact on the budget, scope and schedule of the project.
You will negotiate and resolve the most complex payment-related disputes that may involve senior level managers or directors.
You will evaluate and process disputes/claims that may involve senior level managers or directors, in coordination with Construction Program Leader (CPL) and Legal.
You will resolve project issues requiring discussion, negotiation and coordination with local, federal and state agencies, customers, tenants, or affected communities.
You will assist and support in the development of project notebook, early project scoping, early project costs, and contracting methodology.
You will direct staff in the implementation of new or revised policies, procedures, initiatives, performance measures related to major construction projects.
You will participate in internal or external working groups to develop new or revised operational policies, procedures, initiatives, applications, or performance measures.
Who you are:
Experienced - You have five (5) years of experience in major construction project management including inspection, cost estimating, scheduling, and/or payment processing, to include two (2) years of supervisory/lead/mentor experience including leading a project or process.
Desired - We hope you have a bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture or construction management. We hope you have certifications for Professional Engineer (PE) license, Registered Architect (RA) or Certified Construction Manager (CCM).

Expert -. You have strong knowledge of RCWs, contract law, and construction dispute resolution processes, and expert-level understanding of management concepts used to lead multi-discipline construction teams, both in-house and consultants.
Efficient Communicator - You can effectively interact with executive leaders, project stakeholders, Port Commission, local, federal, and state officials and the public to present and explain program information.
Leader - You are skilled in planning, organizing, reviewing and evaluating the work of project teams including direct and indirect reports and consultants and can provide expert-level advice on issues pertaining to major construction projects.
Diplomatic - You proactively respond to and resolve highly politically sensitive or controversial issues and understand how to manage highly complex projects of significant size and scope.
What else you need to know:
Driver's License - You will need a valid Washington State Driver's License, or the ability to obtain one, is required in order to travel locally to project sites.
Work Schedule - Your normal work schedule will be Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (40 hours per week). Slightly more flexible start and end times are available in this role. You may be required to work any and all assigned shifts, including weekends and holidays. You may be required to work during emergencies.
Work Environment - This work will take place in a hybrid/in-office setting at Management's discretion, and you will be asked to work outdoors in all @types of weather conditions, when needed. You may be exposed to areas of high noise, various hazardous materials, work at heights and/or in confined spaces
Washington State Residency Requirement - Employees must establish a residence in Washington state within 30 days of their first day of employment and must maintain a residence in Washington State during their employment with the Port of Seattle. If a position is eligible to telework, work performed while teleworking must be performed in Washington State.
Safety Requirements - You will be required to comply with all work rules, safety, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements.
Security Requirements - As the successful candidate, you must pass a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) background check as well as a criminal history background check with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Your employment will be contingent upon obtaining a Port of Seattle ID badge upon clearance.
Security Requirements - You may also be required to obtain a U.S. Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) Customs Seal.
