ESENTIAL DUTIES and FUNCTIONS:

Responsible for the administration and operations of the Criminal Investigation and Narcotics Division.

Oversee internal affairs and conduct any subsequent investigations.

Plans, organizes and supervises major police divisions

Make arrests and conduct investigations.

Assigns subordinates to cases and reviews their records and reports

Conduct interviews with victims and/or offenders

Prepares or supervises preparation for court

Assists in court prosecution and participates in all phases of extradition proceedings, including return of prisoners

Maintain a working relationship with the District Attorney

Responsible for internal investigations

Participate in undercover operations.

Prepare budged requests

Performs other related duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS and REQUIREMENTS:

Valid NM Driver's License with acceptable driving record

NM Law Enforcement Academy Certification

High School Diploma or GED Certificate - College degree in police science or related field, preferred

U.S. Citizen free of felony convictions

Twelve (12) years of experience in law enforcement, primarily performing investigative duties

Three (3) years of supervisory experience

A combination of education and experience may be substituted to meet the minimum requirements

Broad knowledge of police operations with emphasis on investigative techniques

Ability to perform defensive tactics, firearm training and other related training courses which require specific physical abilities

Ability to plan, organize, direct and control activities

Must possess emotional and mental stability

Ability to pass drug and alcohol tests in accordance with Town policies and procedures
