We are looking for a talented Senior Construction Estimator (Generalist) to join our industry-leading Project Delivery and Construction team.
This role offers flexible work arrangements: it may be remote for candidates not located near one of our offices, or hybrid for those within commuting distance.
In this role, you will perform all estimating functions and oversee the practice of estimating for the PD group as needed. You'll provide estimating services to projects and business development efforts and assist the Senior Director of Preconstruction in supervising Estimating department personnel.
Position Responsibilities
Works with Project Directors, Project Managers, Design Teams, and other personnel to coordinate the acquisition of input information for the estimating process for projects and proposals
Prepares project estimates using drawings, specifications, scope, basis of design, and other project information as input.
Prepares service estimates for projects as required to support the achievement of project objectives.
Prepares constructed cost estimates for projects as required to support the achievement of project objectives.
Utilizes and maintains estimating software programs and systems for the project and trains others on how to use the program.
Maintains files of project estimates and supporting backup documentation for reference during project execution.
Evaluates historical data, including purchase orders, subcontracts, force reports, and productivity reports, and incorporates relevant data into company unit cost, material, and labor factors.
Monitors subcontract and purchase order awards, compares awarded costs to budgeted costs, determines the bases for variances, and adjusts estimating systems, models, and unit pricing to adjust future estimates.
Review design options and recommend the best solutions based on cost, engineering quality, or availability of materials.
Maintains relationships in the industry to facilitate the acquisition of estimating data and processes.
Prepares estimates to support the change management process for projects.
Works with Project Executives and Project Managers to monitor project implementation for compliance with the basis of the project estimate as required.
Mentors Preconstruction Department personnel for estimating topics, evaluates opportunities for their improvement and advancement, and recommends actions to act upon those opportunities.
Assists the Sr. Director of Preconstruction in evaluating department resource requirements and managing department staff levels to support those requirements.
Assists the Sr. Director of Preconstruction in recruiting, hiring & evaluating the performance of Preconstruction Department personnel as required.
Qualifications & Requirements
15+ years of experience in project delivery related to construction estimating activities including preconstruction and procurement.
Strong experience in takeoffs, rate checks and calculations required
Bachelor's degree in the field of Estimating, Construction Management, or related discipline
We are seeking candidates with construction estimating experience in one or more of the following sectors:
Life Sciences, Pharmaceutical, Petrochemical, Industrial, Manufacturing, Laboratories, Food & Beverage, Oil & Gas,Higher Education, and Healthcare (including Hospitals)
Context, Environment, & Safety
This position requires 10% travel, or as necessary for the project assigned.
The position will visit Client sites and will be required to adhere to stated safety rules.
The position will visit construction sights and will be required to take site safety training and adhere to site safety rules.
Preferred Competencies
Experience with Microsoft Office software with extensive knowledge in Excel, word, and project.
Experience with database estimating and project management software
