Description We are looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Accountant I to join our team in Loveland, Colorado. This long-term contract position offers an opportunity to support essential accounting operations within the agriculture industry, contributing to sustainable and impactful business practices. The ideal candidate will bring a solid foundation in accounting principles, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and a commitment to excellence.

Responsibilities:

Prepare and execute month-end close processes, including the creation and review of journal entries.

Generate and analyze ad hoc financial reports related to competitive allowances, vendor prepayments, and other key metrics.

Collaborate with internal teams to ensure alignment with accounting policies and procedures, identifying areas for process improvement.

Partner with the Foundation team to provide accounting support as needed.

Conduct thorough reviews of accounting functions to ensure compliance with established standards.

Apply best practices to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of financial operations.

Manage special projects and assignments as directed by leadership.

Utilize financial systems and tools, such as PeopleSoft and SAP R/3, to facilitate reporting and data analysis.

Support strategic objectives by maintaining accurate and timely financial records.

Communicate effectively with stakeholders to address financial inquiries and provide insights. Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance from an accredited institution.

Minimum of 1 year of relevant accounting experience.

Strong knowledge of fundamental accounting principles and practices.

Proficiency in using financial systems such as PeopleSoft and SAP R/3 is an asset.

Familiarity with the retail agriculture industry is considered a plus.

Demonstrated ability to perform month-end closing processes and prepare journal entries.

Strong analytical skills and the ability to handle ad hoc reporting requests.

Commitment to accuracy, attention to detail, and continuous improvement in accounting functions.
