Job Summary Are you a licensed Journey Line Technician who is looking for an advanced opportunity to #powerbeyond? We are currently recruiting for a Local Representative - Gas & Electric to support the community on and around Darlington, WI. For this role, we are looking for a licensed Journey Line Technician to work both independently and alongside crews as needed. Primarily working in an assigned outlying gas and electric area away from the district office. In this role you are responsible for promoting the interests of the company, uphold prestige, interpreting and applying policies, improving public relations, and maintaining company property. In this position, you will take after-hours emergency and outage calls. Residency required for this position is to reside within 20 minutes of the center of the designated territory, located at the intersection of Highway 23 and Highway 81, (also known as Main St. and E. Louisa St.) The electric service area extends West to Belmont and south to Shullsburg). What you will do Detects and corrects faults on distribution systems and report transmission system defects. Connects and disconnects customers and reads meters. Distributes bills, collect accounts, and adjust complaints. Explains company rules, rates and policies. Follows established procedures and knows and follows pertinent regulations. \ In some cases, maintain a small hydro plant and/or substation. \ Services equipment such as installing and maintaining customer services.

Replaces house, transformer, and junction fuses. Patrols lines and trims trees. Climbs poles and assists line crews. Performs other duties which are similar, related or incidental to this position. Education Requirements High School diploma or GED equivalent Required Experience 1 year experience as a journeyman line technician Other Requirements Must possess a valid driver\'s license. * Ability to obtain a Commercial Driver\'s License prior to the end of trial period
This position is covered by the Department of Transportation regulations on drug/alcohol testing (CFR 49, Parts 40, 199 and 382), and is subject to drug/alcohol testing according to said regulations. Ability to obtain necessary gas qualifications within 6 months of hire. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Reasonable knowledge of service work ability to plan and execute work with very little supervision Thorough knowledge of company Safety Rules and Operating Practices and requirements of the State Electrical Code as it relates to line construction and maintenance An understanding of company Safety Rules, Operating Practices and State Codes relating to gas operations, construction and maintenance. Demonstrated sense of responsibility to the company and the public. Some supervisory ability.
