Job Summary/Purpose:
Provides business process or technical expertise is a variety of accounting areas. This job is instrumental in issue identification and problem-solving to improve accounting processes. Communicates or presents analytical results to others. Establishes and maintains accounting policies and controls and prepares financial reports or presentations.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Performs assignments requiring understanding and application of accounting principles, practices, and concepts (i.e. preparation of journal entries, reconciliations, etc.).
Communicates results of financial analyses to management.
Accepts ownership of business processes and associated controls.
Provides customer service to internal and external customers.
Identifies opportunities to re-engineer systems and processes to improve financial information.
Effectively communicates analytical results.
Minimum Requirements : Effectively communicates analytical results.
Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
Minimum experience required for the position:
5 years of experience in accounting. Utility accounting experience desired; working knowledge of the FERC uniform system of accounts is a plus.
But not limited to:
Accountant I : With a degree, 1+ years of experience in accounting
Accountant II : With a degree, 2+ years of experience in accounting or payroll processing.
Accountant III: 3 + years of business experience in banking, finance, project development or related fields.
Accountant Lead: 5+ years of business experience in banking, finance, project development or related fields.
Proficiency with the application of accounting controls and processes; Advanced knowledge of Entergy business and processes. Displays strong analytical skills by efficiently using knowledge of tools and business processes to identify problems and resolve issues; Strong leadership and organizational skills; Strong oral and written communication skills with all levels of the organization; Proficiency with use of MS Office application. Ability to work independently and team environment; Strong focus on process improvements; Functioning in a lead role on a project sub-team.
Desired: Professional Certifications like CPA or making progress toward CPA.
