Job Description:

Job Title: Supply Chain Operations Intern

FLSA - Non Exempt

Hy-Vee, Inc. is a progressive, growing and diversified company. Hy-Vee's supply chain supports business initiatives by providing excellent customer service to our retail locations. We have internship opportunities to in the areas of logistics and warehousing. Positions are available at our three distribution centers in Chariton, Cherokee and Des Moines, Iowa. The timeframe is approximately May 15, 2023 to August 11, 2023. This a Monday through Friday position averaging approximately 40 hours per week.

Primary Responsibilities:

Successful candidates will work with management and company employees to learn daily processes within Hy-Vee's supply chain.

Responsibilities will be similar to what is expected of an entry-level supply chain professional.

The intern will perform duties that enables the shipment of product, from order entry, order selection and shipment to the final destination.

The internship will include learning processes needed to successfully service customers with the expectation of contributing new ideas in the form of a final presentation or paper at the conclusion of the internship.

This internship will work with warehouse management on process improvement projects.

The Successful Candidate will have:

Strong academic candidate Experience with team leadership and teamwork, especially outside the classroom

Skilled in the following applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook Ability to effectively communicate, verbally and written

Experience with problem solving and organization Ability to be successful in a fast-paced environment Relationship-building skills

Minimum Education/Experience:

Qualifications include working toward, or recently acquired, a degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Economics, Industrial Engineering, etc.

Physical Requirements:

Visual requirements include clarity of vision at distance of less than 20 inches and up to 20 feet or more with or without correction, depth perception, color vision, and field of vision.

Must be physically able to perform medium work: occasionally lifting or carrying objects of no more than 50 pounds

Must be able to perform the following physical activities: standing, walking, climbing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, grasping, pushing, pulling, feeling, talking, hearing and repetitive motions

Equipment used to Perform Job:

Windows based PC with Microsoft Office products, 10-key calculator, telephone, fax machine, and copier.
