Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Medical Technologist to join our laboratory team. This role involves performing specimen analysis, maintaining laboratory equipment, and ensuring high-quality test results. You will contribute to impactful work, particularly in an oncology lab setting, where you can make a significant difference in patients' lives.

Responsibilities

Follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling, processing, test analyses, reporting, and maintaining patient result records.

Send specimens to reference laboratories for tests not performed in-house.

Process incoming orders for lab testing, including reference laboratory specimens.

Perform specimen analysis of Chemistry, Hematology, and Immunology specimens.

Maintain and operate all laboratory equipment.

Perform daily, weekly, and monthly instrument maintenance.

Adhere to laboratory quality control policies and document all QC activities, calibrations, and maintenance.

Record proper lot numbers of all controls, calibrators, and reagents.

Participate in proficiency testing by performing sample analysis and reporting results at least once a year.

Prepare peripheral blood smears and perform complete WBC differentials.

Perform microscopic examination of urinary sediment.

Record results on appropriate worksheets and computer systems, and perform file maintenance.

Process specimens for send-out testing.

Follow laboratory policies when test systems are not within established acceptable levels of performance.

Identify and correct problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results, or notify a supervisor.

Document all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from established performance.

Maintain adequate inventory of supplies and ensure all supplies are viable before use.

Prepare reagents, stains, and other chemical solutions as needed.

Restock the laboratory area as needed.

Process in-house and incoming results for charting.

Chart patient results in a timely manner.

Essential Skills

ASCP/AMT Certification

Experience with CLIA regulations

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Technician program, typically resulting in an associate degree.

Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician by the Board of Registry of American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or American Medical Technologists (AMT) required.

Work Environment

This role offers a shift from Monday to Friday, with start times between 7am-9am and end times between 3:30pm-5:30pm. There are no weekend or night shifts.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $32.00/hr.
