About the role
Overall role purpose
This role plays a crucial role in the CORE IT Operations and Support team which supports GTIL and Member Firms on local and global contracts. Will oversee the management and maintenance of the organization's cloud computing system. Responsible for collaborating on cloud strategies and managing cloud-based systems to identify optimal solutions, modify systems, and ensure they meet the organization's needs.
The primary focus of this role is to function as an Azure cloud SME (Subject Matter Expert) and provide cloud operational support across all aspects of our infrastructure environments including but not limited to compute health and monitoring, automated build and deploy, data backup and retention.
Main responsibilities
Knowledge and experience working with blob storage, Mongo DB, MS SQL DB architectures
Experience with API-based applications and containerization
Entra ID and Identity Management
Enterprise Apps/App Registrations
Modern Auth methods (SAML/OAuth 2.0/AADB2B)
Moderate knowledge and experience with DNS
Certificate Management
Conceptual knowledge of:
Networking (Network+ or equivalent level experience)
Security (Security+ or equivalent level experience)
Experience with cloud sizing, cost management and toolsets
Conceptual knowledge of:
Azure Monitor components
Azure Storage Solutions - Management and security
Graph API
Well rounded knowledge of cloud native resources and applications
Deep knowledge around SDLC concepts:
Azure DevOps Pipelines
YAML based Deployments
Application code build and deploy
Templatized deployments
Azure Cloud Automation / Compliance / Policy Management using the following:
ARM templates
Pipelines (YAML/AZ-CLI)
IAC (Bicep/Terraform/etc.) With Terraform as the standard
Azure platform Monitoring/Logging experience is required
Conceptual knowledge and experience with observability platforms
Understand the data source ingestion for logs and metrics and the data tools in Azure Monitor
Ability to implement, support and execute within disaster recovery scenarios involving our cloud hosted applications
Knowledge of the Cloud Adoption Framework and Well Architected Pillars
Part of a team that troubleshoots operational infrastructure
Maintains/updates on ongoing operations and project tasks.
Act as an escalation point for complex or critical issues that have not yet been documented as Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Drive quality accountability within the organization with well-defined processes, metrics, and goals for process quality. This includes leading effective postmortems and ensuring actions are followed-up.
Building, and maintaining, robust, actionable alerting and monitoring systems and workflows.

Possess a very high attention to detail and organization with the passion and ability to create order out of disorder with excellence and efficiency through to completion.
A desire to automate everything. Whether that be infrastructure as code or tooling to eliminate toil, automation should be a core focus mindset, and the elimination of repetitive tasks should be a constant desire in the role.
Natural curiosity. You aren't simply satisfied with something working, you want to know why it works and how it works.
A mindset of total ownership - you aren't afraid to dig into things you've never worked on before, from the browser all the way to the persistence layer. You've got a solid foundation in debugging and can jump in when needed to any problem you're asked to help with.
You understand the fundamentals of distributed computing and look for ways to make systems more resilient, self-healing, and eliminate the need for human intervention as much as possible.
Very strong communication and interpersonal skills allowing the candidate to work well in a team environment and deliver excellent customer service.

Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field or equivalent work experience
Seven (7) to ten (10) years of IT work experience working with complex technical environments, including cloud, systems, & network administration, and with other IT systems
Certifications or equivalent experience:
Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ 305)
DevOps Engineer Expert (AZ 400)
