Job Summary and Qualifications
As a Medical Records Support Specialist, you will provide support and assistance to the HIM/Coding teams, including facility-based staff as it relates to unbilled account resolution, appropriate access audits and state reporting.
In this role you will:
Researches, analyzes and trends unbilled accounts to identify reason for coding/billing delay.
Resolves accounts assigned to various HPF/MPF work queues, eRequest queues, and worklists in 3M 360 Encompass which require research and analysis to determine the appropriate action(s) to be taken.
Utilizes various reports and applications to compile daily work list, enter detailed notes, create assignments and deficiencies including the Enterprise Unbilled Tool, HPF, MEDITECH, 3M 360 Encompass, etc. to identify and resolve unbilled accounts.
Works collaboratively with facility HIM staff to identify and resolve unbilled account issues timely.
Escalates accounts to the appropriate functional area based on account age, balance, and issue.
Compiles reports and abstracts newborn data via MEDITECH abstracting module.
Assists with state reporting and release of information certification reviews in applicable areas.
Assists with gathering statistics for HIM/Coding reporting (e.g., delinquency).
Maintains confidentiality with all PHI and HIPAA related information. Perform HPF/MPF Appropriate Access Audits timely according to the Appropriate Access Roles and Responsibilities policy identified in ISAM.
Quarterly, a designated sample of HIM/Coding, including Facility HPF/MPF users, view and print activity reviewed and reported according to protocol.
Quarterly, a designated sample of HPF/MPF locked record access is reviewed and reported according to protocol.
Responsible for maintaining complete and accurate records of all HPF/MPF access audits and the outcomes of those audits.
Responsible for obtaining updated lists of HPF/MPF users quarterly.
What qualifications you will need:
High school diploma preferred
Hospital or physician office clerical experience preferred; 2 years office experience required.
