The practice of physical therapy shall include assessment, treatment planning and implementation, education, communication, and demonstration of leadership to address the needs of patients and their families. Requires limited supervision. Most of the patient care will be performed in an inpatient hospital setting.
Essential Functions:
Provides direct patient care, evaluates/reassesses patients functional needs to ensure optimal outcomes, consults with other specialists as needed. Most of the therapy performed is outpatient orthopedics, sports, and general rehabilitation, as well as a small amount of acute care therapy
Designs and implements a plan of care for the patient and significant others based on a thorough assessment
Conducts therapy practice within defined standards of care according to APTA guidelines and practice act
Communicates effectively with patients, families, and the health care team
Documents appropriate and accurate information in a timely manner
Works closely with the other therapists on staff, and provides direction and leadership to physical therapist assistants, aides, volunteers, and students
Enhances professional development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings and workshops; renews license in a timely manner
Maintains composure through stressful situations such as working with difficult patients or having a high caseload
Organizes schedule in such a way to complete all assignments and treatment in a timely manner. Is flexible and can accommodate to the needs and demands of the department
Required Qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited physical therapy program
Upon Hire: Texas Physical Therapist License
Upon Hire: National Provider BLS - American Heart Association
Preferred Qualifications:
1 or more years of experience in rehabilitation
