We are looking for a candidate to join our Transportation Engineering Services team as a Construction Cost Manager.
The Construction Cost Management team works with construction managers and cross functional teams to ensure program-wide cost and data reporting compliance. The team establishes Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and deep dives cost trends for leadership, while identifying cost opportunities. When needed, we create tools and mechanisms to track and report on costs.
Key job responsibilities
Lead and manage construction processes for updating project trackers and tools, responding to internal customer requests, presenting updates to senior leadership, escalating risks and coordinating with stakeholders for scheduling of milestone events.
Communicate metrics and ideas effectively, verbally and in writing, to a wide range of audiences including executive leadership.
Encourage a constructive dialogue, harmonize discordant views, and coordinate the resolution of contentious issues (build consensus).
Partner effectively with customers, stakeholders, and peer teams.
Create and utilize tools and templates for bid analysis and cost management.
Create and run daily, weekly, monthly reports with an ongoing cadence to support the team with cost data.
Report program trends, using statistical rigor to simplify and inform the larger team of noteworthy story lines.
Independently identify project risks, including the associated financial cost impacts, and communicate to the broader team.
Implement, maintain, and execute all cost control, change management, progress and performance reporting.
Create and track processes to ensure timely cost variance identification and change control processes are managed effectively.
Deep dive and identify site specific and program wide value engineering opportunities and drive to quantify the savings.
Compile as-built cost documentation and estimates for program cost benchmarking.
Provide cost analysis of schedule and design variations.
Define and track cost performance metrics.
Update repository and cost tools for historical data.
Audit and validate change cost impacts.
Deliver results while working on multiple projects with competing priorities on a consistent basis.

Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree
7+ years of construction cost management experience
5+ years of program or project management experience
5+ years of developing program strategies and plans, diving execution, and influencing senior stakeholders experience
Experience using data and metrics to determine and drive improvements
Experience owning program strategy, end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership
Preferred Qualifications
2+ years of driving process improvements experience
Master's degree, or MBA in business, operations, human resources, adult education, organizational development, instructional design or related field
Knowledge of Excel at an intermediate level (e.g., pivot tables & charts, multiple criteria lookups, nested logical/IF formulas, data cleansing, array formulas, etc.)
PMP
5+ years of communicating with and presenting to executive and senior audiences experience

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $104,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
