Finance Manager (HEA) - Provost Office
POSITION DETAILS
Hunter College-CUNY is seeking a Finance Manager for the Office of the Provost. This position reports to the Assistant Vice President of Academic Operations. In addition to CUNY title overview, responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
-Manage the financial operations of the Provost's Office and units reporting to the Provost, including comprehensive management of tax levy and non-tax levy accounting.
-Provide financial guidance on funding appropriateness, identifying fiscal solutions to address academic and administrative challenges.
-Analyze and forecast budgetary requirements, ensuring optimal allocation and utilization of financial resources across all units.
-Facilitate the processing of tax levy and non-tax levy payments through CUNYBuy, CUNYFirst, and web-invoicing systems, ensuring compliance with institutional policies and accuracy in financial reporting.
-Recommend and implement financial policies and controls to enhance organizational efficiency and ensure the responsible management of resources.
-Manage account and AutomatedClearinghouse Transfers(ACH transfers) within the CUNYFirst system, ensuring timely and accurate execution of financial transactions.
-Monitor and report on awards and stipends distributed to faculty and staff, preparing analytical reports that inform decision-making and resource allocation.
-Administer purchasing, subscriptions, and reimbursements, ensuring alignment with budgetary constraints and institutional objectives.
-Supervise HR/Payroll financial processes, focusing on accurate payroll processing related to employee onboarding and timesheet management.
-Manage financial reporting related to time and leave for the office and units reporting to the Provost, ensuring compliance with institutional policies and accurate tracking of labor costs.
-Support strategic planning initiatives by assessing financial outcomes and making recommendations for resource allocation that align with institutional goals.
-Liaise with auditors and regulatory agencies to ensure compliance and facilitate financial assessments as needed, under executive purview.
-Perform additional duties as assigned to support the financial integrity and operational efficiency of the Provost's Office.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree and six years of related experience required.
Experience using CUNYFirst, CUNYBuy, or similar financial management systems is highly preferred.
Demonstrated experience in leading a team, including staff supervision, task delegation, and performance management.
Strong verbal and written communication skills to liaise with internal departments, faculty, and staff.
Advanced experience with Excel.
Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and think analytically.

May hire, supervise and train finance and/or clerical staff and manage related administrative functions

Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience, within the approved range ($100,329 -$117,805)
