Job Title: Construction Inspector
Job Description
As a Construction Inspector, you will be responsible for the inspection and observation of various utilities, including watermain, sewer, sanitary, ADA, and roads for municipalities in and around Oakland County. The role involves obtaining and recording field data, generating and compiling field reports, and recording daily installed construction quantities to review payment requests in terms of progress and amount completed. You will primarily use MS Word and Excel for daily reports.
Responsibilities
Conduct inspections and observations of construction projects including utilities, watermains, sewers, and roads.
Obtain and record field data accurately.
Generate and compile field reports using MS Word and Excel.
Record daily construction quantities and review payment requests.
Travel to different municipalities throughout Metro Detroit, primarily in Oakland County.
Utilize a company work truck for transportation.
Essential Skills
Minimum 4 years of construction inspection experience with projects involving watermains, site development, stormwater, sewer, sanitary, and roadways.
Proficiency in MS Word and Excel.
Experience in writing daily reports.
Experience with municipal projects.
Possession of a clean driving record.
Willingness to work 9-10 hour days, 5 days per week.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with MDOT projects is a bonus.
Possession of Density and Concrete Certifications is advantageous.
5 or more years of experience is preferred.
Associate or higher degree is a plus.
Work Environment
The work schedule is typically from 8 am to 5 pm, with flexibility based on project needs. The role is predominantly field-based, requiring 95% of time spent on-site, with occasional visits to the Waterford office for meetings. The Waterford office is home to 31 employees, with an inspection team of 7 in Waterford and 15 in Melvindale. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $37.00/hr.
