The Resource Industries Sales, Services and Technology (RISST) division is one of the most exciting, global and customer-focused organizations across Caterpillar. We are responsible for the go-to-market strategy for surface and underground mining; and we are focused on delivering growth and the ultimate customer experience through advanced technologies including automation and electrification, integrated site solutions and more!
As a Market Research Consultant, you will obtain, organize, analyze, interpret and report market-related information used in determining marketing strategies and objectives.
What you will do:
Gathering, analyzing, and interpreting data to identify market trends and insights and presenting insights to business partners regarding implications on product, service or customer experience development.
Analyzing and interpreting data, providing detailed observations and insights and recommending actions to take based on insights
Understanding business needs and designing appropriate quantitative / qualitative research plan to generate focused insights.
Managing market research process, including agency management, and collaring with cross-functional counterparts to influence key strategies and execution decisions.
Determining, implementing and monitoring market research strategies, process, tools and techniques.
Support product forecasts and performance to those targets.
Manage and maintain metric dashboards.
What skills you will have:
Data Gathering & Analysis: Good working knowledge of creating Power BI reports and linking to data sources. Knowledge of data gathering and analysis tools, techniques, and processes; ability to collect and synthesize data from a variety of stakeholders and sources in an objective manner to reach a conclusion, goal, or judgment.
Advises on advanced data gathering and analysis methodologies and technologies.
Oversees data gathering and analysis activities within the organization.
Documents sources and validates the accuracy of data analysis by evaluating the pros and cons of data analysis methods used.
Implements procedures and policies within a data processing function.
Teaches others how to improve the validity and reliability of data used in various analyses.
Evaluates best practices of data gathering and analysis within the industry.
Customer Focus: Knowledge of the values and practices that align customer needs and satisfaction as primary considerations in all business decisions and ability to leverage that information in creating customized customer solutions.
Facilitates creation of the 'right' products and services to resolve customer business issues.
Fosters strong customer relationships via delivery on commitments, open communication, and on-going feedback/improvement.
Advises others on creating customer focused environments in various scenarios.
Anticipates customer needs, focusing efforts to proactively meet needs and exceed customer expectations.
Measures and observes customer satisfaction levels to ascertain and implement service improvement alternatives.
Communicates and models the criticality of customer focus as an organizational strategy.
Collaborating: Knowledge of collaborative techniques; ability to work with a variety of individuals and groups in a constructive and collaborative manner.
Creativity: Knowledge of the approaches, tools, and techniques for promoting creative, original thinking and ability to apply it to a variety of business situations.
Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
Relationship Management: Knowledge of relationship management techniques; ability to establish and maintain healthy working relationships with clients, vendors, and peers.
Strategic Thinking: Knowledge of the importance of "big picture" thinking and planning; ability to apply organizational acumen and competitiveness to identify and maintain focus on key success factors for the organization.
Vendor/Supplier Management: Knowledge of external provider management processes and ability to effectively manage the business relationship with external providers (e.g. vendors, service providers, contractors, consultants and suppliers).
Additional Information:
This position requires the candidate to work full-time in the Tucson, AZ or Peoria, IL office.
This position may require 20% travel.

Summary Pay Range:
$110,520.00 - $165,840.00
Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
