Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems (NGAS) is seeking candidates for the position of Software Engineering Manager 2 to support Joint All Domain Command & Control (JADC2) program under the Air Dominance Division. This position is on site in Melbourne, Florida .
This is a dual-role technical manager position. Management duties will require tasking and coordination of approximately 8-12 engineers, and process and resource co-ordination with functional homeroom management. The manager will also be expected to perform technical work on programs. It is anticipated that given the size of the functional team, the split between program and functional duties will be approximately 80/20, on average.
Duties include deploying product updates, setting up software factory, virtual machines, containers, and orchestration. The role will have a large impact on team productivity and as such requires an understanding of the software development lifecycle and various automation tools for developing digital pipelines (CI/CD pipelines).
Support integration of software for use across multi-domain/multi-platform scenarios using software engineering best practices and standards and participate in the full life-cycle of software development, to include requirements development, modeling and design, application development, unit testing, integration, formal system testing within a cluster environment, release, installation, and maintenance of clusters.

Key Responsibilities:
Software managers will provide technical and staffing support to programs:
Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure high availability
Maintain and troubleshoot networking components, including VLANs, firewalls, switches, and routers
Install, configure, and maintain operating systems, software, servers, and hardware.
Deploy, manage, and support virtualized environments (e.g. VMware, Hyper-V, or other hypervisors)
Implement and manage core infrastructure services (e.g., DNS, DHCP, NAS, and Active Directory)
Setup an overall Cloud-native Software Factory
Manage and improve container orchestration and deployment strategies
Support programs with integration and deployment automation in a cloud enabled environment
Software managers also manages a group of up to 15 direct reports:
Set attainable goals.
Execute performance reviews.
Guide the employees regarding career development.
Support teams or individuals to improve performance and achieve goals through coaching and mentoring.
Provide Flowdown and direction from upper management and the organization.

Basic Qualifications:
Must have a Bachelor's Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) field AND 9 years of related professional/military experience that includes a background in software development, OR a STEM Master's Degree AND 7 years of related professional/military experience that includes a background in software development.
Experience developing software with C/C++/Python/Java.
Experience with UCI Schema and CAL development.
Strong working knowledge of Windows and Linux environments.
Proficient with containers and Kubernetes.
Proficient with Automation tools such as Ansible, and/or Terraform.
Experience scripting in YAML, Powershell, BASH, JSON, etc.
Experience creating and maintaining CI/CD pipelines (Gitlab, or equivalent).
Proficient with networking concepts.
Must have an active DoD Secret clearance (with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation).
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance.
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance.
Preferred Qualifications: - Active Top Secret clearance

Experience integrating and debugging software on hardware
Experience working within an Agile environment
Proficiency working in Linux and commands

Salary Range: $135,100.00 - $202,700.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
