Sr. Accountant

Description We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to oversee and manage essential accounting functions for a healthcare organization in Indianapolis, Indiana. This role involves maintaining the financial records and general ledger for the hospital and its subsidiary, ensuring compliance with regulations, and supporting the preparation of financial reports and budgets. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in accounting processes and systems, along with a strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities:

Manage financial records and the general ledger, including executing month-end close processes, preparing journal entries, and reconciling accounts.

Oversee the fixed asset system and schedules, ensuring accurate tracking and updates.

Assist in the preparation of Medicare Cost Reports, property tax filings, and K-1 tax documents.

Review and analyze monthly budget variance reports while participating in the annual budget compilation process.

Provide support during audits, including interim and year-end reviews.

Train and mentor staff accountants and accounts payable team members, offering guidance on policies and procedures.

Maintain the cost accounting system for the hospital and ensure compliance with governmental regulations.

Participate in cyclical financial processes, such as property tax returns, distributions, and audit preparations.

Collaborate with leadership to improve accounting processes and systems.

Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting across all entities. Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Accounting is required.

A minimum of 6-8 years of accounting experience with strong attention to detail is required; 8-10 years is preferred.

Previous experience in the healthcare industry is strongly preferred.

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel is essential.

Familiarity with accounting systems such as NetSuite, Oracle, and SAP is highly preferred.

Strong skills in account reconciliation, journal entries, and month-end close processes.

Excellent organizational and analytical skills with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail.

Ability to work collaboratively with teams and adapt to evolving financial requirements.
