POSITION: Fraud Investigator
DUTIES:
Meets with legal staff in pretrial and trial conferences to assist in the
preparation and presentation of criminal prosecution; reviews testimony on
results of the investigation.
Maintains claims activities in the Colorado Benefits Management System
TRAILS and CHATS
Provides customer service regarding claim information, repayment
negotiation and recovery process such as tax intercepts
and benefit recoupments.
Interacts with court personnel regarding criminal claim information.
Composes letters and other correspondence to clients, attorneys, and
employers.
Prepares and submits monthly collection report to director and county
commissioners.
Handles all aspects of the civil court (small claims) process, if
applicable. - Reconciles monthly payment information with the business office.
Conducts site visits to but is not limited to day care facilities,
residences, employers, financial institutions, EBT vendors, etc.
Reviews information and referrals to determine the @type of investigation
required; reviews and researches case files and Colorado Department of Human
Services regulations
Gathers necessary evidence from various sources regarding the allegations
set forth in the investigation referral.
Conducts in-office or field interviews with witnesses to gather
documentation and sworn testimony.
Meets with recipient to review the allegations, evidentiary packet and the
recipient's options.
Prepares, conducts, and testifies in Intentional Program Violation
hearings and/or refers to the District Attorney's Office for criminal
prosecution
Prepares written report of findings, evidence, testimony, and
documentation for submission to District Attorney's Office for filing of
criminal action.
Meets with legal staff in pretrial and trial conferences to assist in the

Initiates disqualification for a recipient found fraudulent through court
order, intentional program violation, or waiver.
Keeps accurate records regarding the caseload of the unit, tracking the
number of cases referred for action and the number of
Intentional Program Violation and Criminal recoveries established.
REQUIREMENTS:

A High School diploma or equivalent certificate is required for employment.
Preferred two (2) years of full-time Self Sufficiency or Public
Assistance Technician duties involving the use of Colorado Benefits
Maintenance System (CBMS) experience, and two (2) years of full-time
investigative or administrative experience in an environment delivering
services involving case law, legal action/court proceedings, and or
legal research investigation is required for employment.
Ability to read, analyze and interpret documents such as State regulations
and procedure manuals, write case comments and correspondence, communicate
professionally with clients, coworkers and other agencies or organizations
and proper use of English or Spanish (if
applicable) including spelling, grammar, punctuation, and vocabulary.
The ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of
measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
The ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and
interpret bar graphs.
Applicant must retain the ability to define problems, collect data,
establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Further the individual must be
able to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions which deal
with abstract and concrete variables.
Must be able to analyze complex situations, formulate plans and make quick
decisions.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Valid Colorado Driver's License and Vehicle Insurance
Background checks and drug screens including marijuana is required for this
position.

WAGE: $22.24 - $23.12/Hr. Depending on Experience
