Job Summary

HEART stands for Health, Equity, Action, Research and Teaching and is a student and faculty collaborative pro-bono health service based in the College of Health Sciences at the University of Michigan-Flint. Our mission is to improve health and healthcare access to the uninsured and underinsured in Flint and Genesee County through inter-personal provision of health services. Students who serve in HEART will embrace inter-personal collaborative practice and a commitment to addressing health inequities.

As the Physical Therapy HEART Coordinator, this role will supervise Physical Therapy students at the pro-bono PT clinic HEART located at the Insight Institute Flint..

This position will report to the Associate Director for Community Engagement. This position will be part-time with the expectation of up to 8 hours per week, a seasonal appointment (9 months). This is a 20% effort position at a salary range of $16,200 to $20,240.

Responsibilities*

Supervise student provision of pro-bono PT services, including the provision of physical therapy services and documentation

Oversee the student pro-bono board of directors and activities such as: clinician recruitment, orientation and retention; student recruitment, orientation, and retention

Oversee social media content from HEART

Operational activities including ordering supplies, maintenance of equipment

Annual reporting of HEART data

Community engagement

Facilitate and assist in community health screening events

Assist in creating documents, tables, presentations regarding the pro-bono clinical data

Participate in meetings with HEART community advisory committee

Required Qualifications*

1 or more years of clinical experience as a licensed physical therapist in an outpatient setting

Licensed as a physical therapist in the State of Michigan

Bachelor's degree in physical therapy or a relevant field

Modes of Work

Onsite

The work requires, or the supervisor approves a fully onsite presence. Onsite is defined as a designated U-M owned or leaded work location within or outside of the State of Michigan.

Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. Background Screening
