Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team in New Boston, Michigan. This Contract-to-permanent position offers a hybrid work arrangement, combining in-office collaboration and remote flexibility. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in managing daily accounting activities, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and supporting new business initiatives.
Responsibilities:
Handle daily financial transactions, including invoicing, cash receipts, disbursements, and related accounting activities.
Prepare and analyze profit and loss statements, ensuring accuracy and timeliness for assigned areas.
Perform general ledger and bank reconciliations, addressing and resolving discrepancies as needed.
Develop and implement accounting processes and procedures for new initiatives and transactions.
Create journal entries and oversee period-end close activities, investigating and explaining variances when necessary.
Assist in billing and accounting functions for various departments across the organization.
Collaborate with the Tax department to implement sales tax software, process returns, and ensure timely payments.
Identify and address issues related to billing, cash management, and disbursements for internal and external stakeholders.
Work with the Controller and peers to recommend and execute process improvements.
Participate in special projects and provide ad hoc reporting and analysis as needed. Requirements - Proficiency in managing Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) processes.
Strong experience with bank reconciliations and general ledger maintenance.
Expertise in preparing journal entries and executing month-end close activities.
Familiarity with Oracle or similar accounting software.
Ability to analyze financial data and address discrepancies effectively.
Knowledge of sales tax processes, including software implementation and filing requirements.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Strong communication skills for collaborating across teams and departments.
