Accounting Specialist

Description We are looking for a meticulous and detail-oriented Accounting Specialist to join our team on a contract basis in Hampton, Virginia. In this role, you will ensure accurate financial records by processing transactions, managing vendor and customer information, and reconciling accounts. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute your accounting expertise to a government-focused organization.

Responsibilities:

Process and record payment transactions with precision and attention to detail.

Maintain and update vendor and customer information within the accounting system.

Handle accounts payable and accounts receivable tasks, ensuring timely and accurate processing.

Reconcile financial transactions and resolve discrepancies to ensure data integrity.

Utilize and manage accounting software systems and ERP tools effectively.

Prepare and review billing statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with established procedures.

Collaborate with team members to streamline accounting processes and improve efficiency.

Apply intermediate Excel skills, including creating and editing formulas, to analyze and manage data.

Generate reports and summaries to support financial decision-making.

Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards and regulations. Requirements - A minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting or a related field.

Proficiency in accounting software systems and ERP tools.

Strong understanding of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general accounting functions.

Experience with billing processes and financial reconciliations.

Intermediate proficiency in Excel, including the ability to work with formulas.

High attention to detail and accuracy in financial data management.

Strong organizational and time management skills.

Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members.
