Robert Half is partnering with a prominent company in the construction industry to fill a Senior Accountant position in Poway, CA. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced finance professional to contribute their expertise to a growing organization while managing critical aspects of accounting processes. Ideal candidates will have extensive experience in construction accounting and a solid understanding of industry-specific financial management practices.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage general ledger activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end/year-end close processes.

Prepare and analyze financial statements, ensuring compliance with GAAP and industry regulations.

Oversee job costing and tracking of construction projects, ensuring accurate allocation of expenses and maintaining profitability forecasts.

Track costs related to materials, labor, subcontractors, and overhead for multiple ongoing projects.

Implement and maintain ERP software to streamline accounting workflows and improve financial visibility.

Prepare account reconciliations and reports for accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll functions.

Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes specific to construction projects.

Ensure compliance with state and federal tax reporting requirements, including sales and use tax filings.

Provide insight into financial data, presenting findings to management for decision-making purposes.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required. CPA preferred.

4+ years of accounting experience with at least 2 years in construction accounting.

Proficiency in ERP systems such as Viewpoint, Sage, or QuickBooks Enterprise. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (e.g., VLOOKUPs, macros, pivot tables) are essential.

Strong understanding of job costing practices and revenue recognition for construction projects. Familiarity with WIP (Work-in-Progress) schedules is a plus.

Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail, with a proactive approach to problem-solving and process improvement.
