The Opportunity:Avantor is looking for a Distribution Manager to oversee all material handling operations for the multi-shift site. Reporting to the Global Supply Chain and Distribution Organization, this role holds significant accountability to the site Director and department counterparts. The Warehousing and Distribution teams ensure that Avantor's production operations are consistently supplied with materials, facilitating seamless day-to-day operations.The Distribution Manager is responsible for directing the daily activities of the warehouse, including labor scheduling, supervision and proper utilization of space and equipment.This role will be a full-time position based out of our Paris, KY office.How you will thrive and create an impact:Plan and schedule all distribution services related to proper shipping of Avantor-manufactured chemicals to Avantor Distribution Centers and direct customer shipments.Oversee all services related to inbound warehousing of raw materials from Avantor suppliers and manufacturing, including pulling production orders to deliver to site production areas in a timely manner.Direct and oversee job assignments and plan daily labor schedules.Operate within a tiered daily management performance culture, reviewing metrics daily with direct reports and plant leadership to ensure proper measures are taken.Maintain an appropriate performance evaluation system for recommending promotions, wage increases and terminations.Participate in budget preparation, revenue and account analyses. This position will be responsible for daily oversight and management of distribution-related spending, including vendor management, supplies, and services.Ensure the accurate and timely preparation, processing, distribution and retention of all necessary reports and records regarding warehouse operations.Monitor the cleanliness and working condition of all equipment and oversee adjustments and/or repairs as necessary.Manage programs to keep tools and equipment in designated areas; schedule cleaning of equipment; store product in neat straight rows inside painted perimeters; maintain strict rodent and pest control; ensure compliance with appropriate government regulations.The site is a multi-shift operation, therefore availability to support shift leaders when necessary is critical.Audit operations to ensure service standards are being met.Ensure current and accurate inventory control for each account.Ensure that customer orders are picked and shipped in a timely fashion within prescribed cost levels.Assist in ensuring the security of the facility, its environs, employees and contents.Perform other duties as assigned.What we're looking for:Education:College degree (preferred) and/or equivalent experience required.Experience:Minimum of 8 years experience with 5 years of direct experience in a similar position; 3+ years leadership responsibility.Additional Qualifications:Requires demonstrated skills in leadership, organization and communication.An understanding of warehousing operations.An understanding of key aspects (including safety) of chemical handling and distribution is a plus.Demonstrated knowledge and experience with Lean Principles related to operations management.Must be PC literate and have a working knowledge of MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.Familiarity with computer systems, warehouse systems and computerized scanning equipment is a plus.Environmental Working Condit
