QUALIFICATIONS:Current Registered Nurse License from the Iowa Board of Nursing (REQUIRED)

JOB GOAL:To promote and safeguard the physical and mental health of all members of the school community.

TERM OF EMPLOYMENT:Responsibilities exist during the contract year as negotiated or as set by the Board of Education.

EVALUATION:Will be evaluated by Building Principal or Superintendent in accordance with agreements negotiated or asset by Board Policy.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Be available to students/staff during the hours of 7:45 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. Monday-Friday

Collect, review and maintain all immunization records (PreK-12thgrade) to comply with state mandated requirements prior to school admission.

Collect, review and maintain Annual Health History updates for every student prior to the first day of school each year.

Collect, review and maintain student health files on all students enrolled in the district.

Prepare a confidential health concerns list for staff with appropriate information obtained from yearly updates.

Prepare a confidential list of students with documented food allergies to the cafeteria workers and classroom teachers.

Store and maintain transfer/inactive student records according to state guidelines.

Maintain appropriately supplied health office, including ongoing inventory of equipment and supplies.

Collecting, storing and providing clothing, hats, coats and gloves for students when needed.

Perform quarterly maintenance checks of AED equipment.

Provide first aid and acute care as needed to all students and staff.

Maintain appropriate documentation of all care provided.

Access, report and adhere to all Department of Health guidelines with regard to communicable disease outbreaks within the district. Report student and staff absence data when needed.

Dispense medication and keep records according to the school board policy and the five rights of medication delivery.

Maintain a safe and secure location for storage and transportation of all medications.

Use of appropriate means of communication to relay health information as needed to parents/guardians and staff members.

Maintain appropriate records of all accidents/incidents on school grounds/activities that involve students (or staff in the past).

Train and supervise staff in administration of medication as appropriate for field trips, emergencies, etc.

Work closely with our counselors when noticing and addressing student mental health changes/concerns.

Prepare and maintain current Health Care Plans.

Member of IEP and 504 planning teams as medically necessary.

Research, maintain and perform all aspects of the monthly Medicaid billing process for all eligible and qualified students in the district.

Classroom presentations including but not limited to: Hand washing, dental hygiene, puberty, and various other health related topics at individual staff requests.

Member of SIAC team.

Initial contact person for Workman's Comp Incident/Accident reporting

Kindergarten Roundup: presentation to parents, collection and maintenance of immunization card, lead and dental screening requirements, physicals and vision screenings.

Active cooperation and compliance with audits as required by State of Iowa i.e. immunization audits, dental screening audits, lead screening audits, and Medicaid claiming audits.

Attendance at school related education seminars/webinars.

Assist in covering the front office while the secretary is gone to lunch or out for the day, while still performing nursing duties.
